Terms
Plain terms for a $5 desktop app. They say what you get, what you owe, and what we don’t promise, including the parts that aren’t flattering.

1. Who you’re dealing with
SoftGlaze Browser is made and sold by SoftGlaze LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company. “We” and “us” mean that company; “you” means the person or organisation that installs the app or buys a licence. These terms cover the app, this website and any support we give you.
Using the app or the site means you accept these terms, the acceptable use policy and the privacy notice. If you’re agreeing on behalf of a company, you’re confirming you may do so.
2. What you get
SoftGlaze Browser is software you install on your own computer. It keeps your profiles, proxies, members and settings in a database on that computer. There is no SoftGlaze account, we don’t hold your data, and we can’t retrieve it for you if you lose it. Keeping your own backups is your job, and the app has a Workspace Backup and Restore screen for it.
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. macOS and Linux builds don’t exist yet, and nothing here promises a date for them.
3. The licence
The source code is public under the Business Source License 1.1. You can read it, build it and test it for free. Using SoftGlaze for real work needs a paid licence, which is what the plans are. You can’t resell it or run it as a hosted service. This version becomes Apache 2.0 on 1 January 2030.
In practice: a paid plan is what makes using SoftGlaze for real work allowed. The full text is the one that governs, and it’s public. Read it in the LICENSE file. You may not resell the app, sublicense it, or run it as a service for other people.
A licence covers one workspace. A workspace is one installation with its own database, its members and its profiles, so the licence follows the workspace rather than counting computers.
4. The trial
The trial is 7 days with every feature and no card. After that you get 3 more days during which everything still works and the app reminds you to subscribe. Then the app locks to a renewal screen until you buy a plan or enter a purchase code. Your profiles and data stay on your computer, and unlock as soon as you do.
One trial per workspace. Resetting the database to get another one isn’t within the spirit of this, or the licence.
5. Paying, renewing and cancelling
Pro costs $5 per month per workspace, in US dollars, excluding any tax we’re required to collect. Payment goes through a payment provider; card details never reach us or the app.
A subscription renews each month until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that the app follows the same grace-then-lock path as the trial. Invoices are sent on request: email billing@softglaze.com.
Refunds are 14 days, no questions asked, counted from the charge. The details, including how a crypto refund works, are in the refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
Prices can change. If the price of your plan changes we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies to a renewal, and you can cancel instead.
6. What you’re responsible for
- Everything done in your workspace, including by members you invite.
- Your workspace password. If you turn on database encryption and lose it, the data cannot be recovered. There is no backdoor and no reset.
- Your own backups.
- Following the acceptable use policy, the law that applies to you, and the terms of the sites you use SoftGlaze on. Many platforms restrict multiple accounts; that’s between you and them.
- Anything you buy elsewhere and plug in: proxies, captcha solvers, SMTP, a sync server. Those are your contracts, on their terms, and their costs.
7. What we don’t promise
The app is provided as it is. Specifically, and not as small print:
- We don’t promise that a website won’t detect a profile, challenge it, rate-limit it or close an account. Nobody can, and anyone who does is selling you something else.
- The Windows installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns about it. Check the SHA-256 on the download page before running it.
- Whole-database encryption is off until you turn it on. Until then, credentials in the database are in plain text on your disk.
- We have no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification and there has been no independent audit. What we offer instead is the source and the security page.
- Features can change. We may add, alter or remove parts of the app; if we remove something you’re relying on, you can cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of the unused period.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for lost profit, lost revenue, lost or suspended accounts, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, the most we owe for all claims together is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability we can’t limit by law, including for fraud, or any right you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
9. Ending it
You can stop using the app whenever you like, and cancel as described above. We can suspend or end a licence if you break these terms or the acceptable use policy, if a payment is charged back, or if we’re required to by law. Where it’s our choice and the breach isn’t serious, we’ll ask you to fix it first.
Ending a licence doesn’t delete anything on your computer, and it doesn’t give us access to it.
10. Changes to these terms
We’ll post changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we’ll email the address on your account at least 30 days before it applies to your renewal. Carrying on using the app after that means you accept the new version.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of New Mexico, United States, and the courts there have jurisdiction. Before anything formal, email support@softglaze.com: one business day, monday to friday, and almost everything is cheaper to sort out that way.
