Acceptable use policy

Who this applies to

This policy covers SoftGlaze Browser and this website. It applies to you, to everyone you invite into your workspace, and to anything done with a licence you bought. It sits alongside the terms, and breaking it is a breach of them.

What SoftGlaze is for

The app exists because one browser can hold one session of a site at a time, and some work needs more than that:

• Running several of your own accounts on a platform that allows it, without them sharing cookies, storage or a device fingerprint.
• Agency and freelance work: keeping each client’s accounts in a separate profile, with credentials that stay with the client.
• Handing a profile to a colleague or contractor to use without handing over the password behind it.
• Testing how your own site or ad behaves from a different region, device or browser.
• Research and quality assurance that needs a clean, repeatable browser environment.
• Keeping your own browsing separate from work, on one computer.

Data Vault and Smart Autofill

The app includes a feature the app itself describes as “a reusable vault of identities for the Smart Autofill engine… each one remembers the sites it has already been used on”. It stores sets of details (names, addresses, phone numbers, card details if you put them there) on your computer, and fills them into forms so you don’t retype them.

What it’s for: your own details, your business’s details, and details a client has given you permission to use on their behalf. Keeping them consistent matters: an account whose address changes every time it’s touched looks like a compromised account, and gets treated like one.

What it is not for. Do not put an identity in the vault that you are not entitled to use. Specifically, do not use it to:

• Invent people. Fabricated identities used to open accounts, claim offers or pass a signup check are fraud, whether or not the details match a real person.
• Use a real person’s details without their informed permission and a lawful basis for holding them.
• Get through identity verification, age checks, know-your-customer or anti-money-laundering checks as someone you are not.
• Apply for credit, benefits, refunds, payouts or accounts in another person’s or another business’s name.
• Store card, bank or government-identifier details belonging to someone else.

The vault is local, so we can’t see what’s in it and we don’t want to. That’s a reason for this paragraph to be specific, not a reason for it to be vague: if you need fabricated identities to make your work possible, SoftGlaze is the wrong tool and we would rather you didn’t buy it.

Automation, and solving captchas

The recorder and runner repeat a task you have done by hand, across profiles you control. Use it for your own work: posting, updating listings, checking dashboards, filling the same form for each of your accounts.

The app can also send a captcha to a third-party solving service, if you add your own key for one. A captcha is usually there to stop automated abuse, so this sits close to the line. It’s acceptable to use it so your own, permitted automation isn’t stopped by a challenge on a site you have every right to be on. It is not acceptable to use it as part of anything else on this page, in particular account creation at scale, credential testing, scalping, or getting past a protection someone put in place because of abuse.

What you must not do

Don’t use SoftGlaze, or anything you paid us for, to:

• Commit fraud. Payment fraud, chargeback fraud, refund abuse, bonus and promotion abuse, affiliate or advertising fraud, fake reviews, fake engagement, or anything that misleads a platform into paying out.
• Break into accounts. Credential stuffing, password spraying, brute forcing, session or cookie theft, or using credentials you obtained from a breach or without permission.
• Impersonate. Pose as another person, a business, or an official body, including through the Data Vault.
• Evade enforcement. Get back onto a platform that suspended or banned you for abusing it, or dodge a court order, sanction or regulator.
• Harass or endanger anyone. Stalking, doxxing, threats, child sexual abuse material, or content that sexualises minors. This one has no grey area and no appeal.
• Attack systems. Denial of service, vulnerability scanning or exploitation against systems you don’t own or have written permission to test, or spreading malware.
• Spam. Bulk unsolicited messages, comment or forum spam, or mass account creation for any of it.
• Break the law where you are, or where the site you use is. Including sanctions, export controls, gambling and financial licensing rules, and the sale of illegal goods.
• Harvest personal data. Collecting people’s data at scale without a lawful basis, or scraping in breach of a site’s terms or a law that applies to you.
• Resell SoftGlaze. Reselling, sublicensing or running it as a service for others is a licence matter as well as this one; see the licence.

The rules of the sites you visit

Many platforms restrict how many accounts one person may hold, and some forbid automation. Nothing we sell you is permission to break those rules, and buying SoftGlaze doesn’t transfer that risk to us. Read the terms of the platforms you work on. If multiple accounts are against their rules, the fact that separate profiles make it possible does not make it allowed.

We also don’t promise that a site won’t detect a profile, rate-limit it or close an account. No one honestly can. What the app does is described plainly across the feature pages, including the parts that give a profile away.

How this is enforced

SoftGlaze runs on your computer and we don’t have a copy of your profiles, your cookies or your vault. There is no monitoring on our side, and this policy isn’t enforced by software watching you.

What we can do, and will:

• Refuse to sell to someone who tells us, or shows us, what they intend to do with it.
• End a licence and stop renewals for a workspace used against this policy, without a refund for the remaining period.
• Respond to a lawful request from an authority with what little we hold: your billing record and any correspondence. That’s listed in the privacy notice.
• Report material we are legally required to report.

Ending a licence doesn’t delete anything on your computer. We can’t, and we wouldn’t have a way to.

Reporting misuse

If someone is using SoftGlaze against this policy, email abuse@softglaze.com with what you’ve seen, dates and any identifiers you have, such as an email address, an account or a profile name. One business day, Monday to Friday, and we’ll tell you what we did if we can.

If you’ve found a security flaw rather than misuse, use the disclosure process instead.

Changes

We’ll update this page when the product changes or when something here turns out to be unclear, and the date at the top changes with it. If a change would affect what you’re allowed to do with a licence you already hold, we’ll email the address on the account before it takes effect.
